Hyderabad, April 18: In the 27th match of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced off against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday. Batting first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, SRH shattered an 11-year-old record by scoring 194 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs.
This score marks the highest SRH has ever achieved against CSK in IPL history. Previously, in 2015, SRH had scored 192 runs for 7 wickets against CSK at the same venue. SRH’s innings began with a bang as Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma put together a solid partnership, scoring 75 runs for the first wicket in just 5.5 overs. Abhishek played a blistering knock, scoring 59 runs off just 22 balls, which included 6 fours and 4 sixes. Head contributed 23 runs from 20 balls, while Ishan Kishan was dismissed without scoring.
Henrik Klaasen continued his excellent form, scoring 59 runs off 39 balls, aided by 6 fours and 2 sixes. Aniket Verma struggled with the bat, managing only 2 runs before falling to Jamie Overton. Nitish Kumar Reddy was also dismissed by Overton for just 12 runs. Sahil Arora added 13 runs, while Liam Livingstone scored only 1 run from 5 balls. Shivang Kumar chipped in with 12 runs off 8 balls.
For CSK, Anshul Kamboj had a standout bowling performance, taking 3 wickets for just 22 runs in his 3-over spell. Jamie Overton also impressed, claiming 3 wickets for 37 runs in 4 overs. Mukesh Choudhary picked up 2 wickets for 21 runs, and Gurjapneet Singh took 1 wicket for 34 runs.
In a strategic move, SRH made one change to their playing XI, bringing in Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka in place of Harsh Dubey. CSK also made a change, giving Mukesh Choudhary a chance to play in place of the injured Khaleel Ahmed.
