
Beijing, February 19: The Spring Festival Gala, organized by China Media Group (CMG), achieved remarkable success, garnering a staggering 23.063 billion views across all domestic media platforms by 8 AM on February 17. This marks a 37.3% increase compared to last year. The live television viewership share peaked at 79.29%, the highest in 13 years. During the broadcast, an average of 325 million viewers tuned in simultaneously, with peak online viewers exceeding 400 million.
The Gala also set new records on domestic new media platforms. Live streaming and on-demand viewing on these platforms reached a total of 16.207 billion views, reflecting a 49% year-over-year increase.
The online popularity continued to surge, with nearly 2,000 trending topics related to the Gala. By 1 PM on February 17, the total online readership for topics associated with the Spring Festival Gala reached 27.12 billion, with 1,939 topics trending on major online platforms.
The international reach of the Gala has significantly expanded. CMG broadcasted the event in 85 languages worldwide through its international platforms.
The report on the Spring Festival Gala indicated 2.309 billion global views and 843 million video views, showcasing year-over-year increases of 32.85% and 43.61%, respectively.
