Spain Dominates Serbia with 3-0 Victory Ahead of World Cup

Madrid, March 28: Spain secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Serbia in one of their final preparation matches ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Mikel Oyarzabal was the standout player, scoring two goals during the match. Victor Munoz also contributed with a goal.

Oyarzabal’s first goal came in the 16th minute, a well-placed shot following a brilliant team play. His second goal arrived just before halftime, a powerful long-range shot that left Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic with no chance to save.

Spain’s coach, Luis de la Fuente, entrusted the goalkeeping duties to Unai Simon, while FC Barcelona’s Joan Garcia, who received his first national team call-up, remained on the bench. Rodri started in central midfield ahead of Martin Zubimendi, while Aymeric Laporte and Pau Torres formed the central defense. Marcos Llorente played as right-back, and Lamine Yamal was positioned on the right side of Spain’s attack.

Just minutes after Oyarzabal’s opening goal, Lamine Yamal struck the crossbar as Spain maintained control of the match. Victor Munoz made his debut in the second half as a substitute. He quickly made an impact, scoring his first international goal in the 72nd minute with a brilliant finish from a back-heel assist by Ferran Torres, extending the lead to 3-0.

Spain will next face Egypt in Barcelona on Tuesday, providing coach de la Fuente with one last opportunity to finalize his World Cup squad. In other international friendlies played on Friday night, England drew 1-1 with Uruguay at Wembley Stadium in London. The Netherlands defeated Norway 2-1 at the Amsterdam Arena, while Germany triumphed over Switzerland 4-3 in an away match at Stade de Suisse, with Florian Wirtz scoring two late goals.

Current champions Argentina also had a straightforward match, beating Mauritania 2-1 thanks to two goals scored in the first half. Meanwhile, Russia defeated Nicaragua 3-1 at Luzhniki Stadium.
