SP Legislator Accuses AIMIM of Dividing Anti-BJP Votes in Uttar Pradesh
SPs Ravidas Mehrotra claims AIMIM acts as BJPs B-team, aiming to split votes ahead of upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : Ravidas Mehrotra, a legislator from the Samajwadi Party (SP), recently criticized Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He labeled the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) as the BJP’s “B-team,” alleging that the party seeks to divide anti-BJP votes to undermine SP candidates.
Mehrotra asserted, “Wherever Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath contests, he will lose. There is widespread public anger against the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. Young people are protesting on the streets, while the BJP government attempts to stifle the people’s voice through oppression and tyranny. The entire state is rising against the Chief Minister.”
He also responded to comments made by Imran Masood regarding BJP National President Nitin Naveen, stating that the BJP government is consistently diverting public attention from key issues. He pointed out that BJP candidates lost by-elections in areas where their president was once an MLA. “This government has failed on all fronts. The public has decided to remove it,” he added.
Addressing AIMIM’s controversial remarks about Abdul and the Nehru-Gandhi-Yadav families, Mehrotra emphasized that the SP is committed to fighting for the rights and dignity of marginalized communities. “We will oppose any attempts to insult the PDA community. The SP is working to ensure that backward classes, Dalits, minorities, and other vulnerable groups receive justice and respect,” he stated.
Mehrotra reiterated his belief that AIMIM is working alongside the BJP to defeat SP candidates in the upcoming elections. “The entire state knows that AIMIM aims to collaborate with the BJP to weaken our electoral prospects,” he said.
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Mehrotra expressed confidence that the SP would form the next government in Uttar Pradesh, with Akhilesh Yadav as Chief Minister. He announced that the SP would release its manifesto on Constitution Day, November 26, focusing on securing rights and justice for marginalized groups. “The SP government will alleviate the crises faced by Uttar Pradesh,” he concluded.
In response to AIMIM’s comments about the Nehru-Gandhi-Yadav lineage, Mehrotra remarked, “Anyone who does not recognize Gandhi as a leader likely supports Nathuram Godse.”
