Southern Commands Military-Civil Fusion Initiative Strengthens National Preparedness

New Delhi, March 28: The Indian Army’s Southern Command has launched a large-scale program under the ‘Military-Civil Fusion Initiative’. This initiative brings together the army, administration, security agencies, educational institutions, and industry leaders to enhance the country’s security and emergency preparedness.

The campaign has been implemented across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and various regions in South India. Its primary goal is to foster better coordination among different entities and improve collaborative capabilities during threats or disasters.

Participating in this initiative are the Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces, state police, civil administration, disaster management agencies, airport and aviation departments, forest and mining departments, NCC, colleges, and industries. Together, they have addressed issues related to security, airspace monitoring, disaster management, and the use of new technologies.

A high-level tabletop exercise was also conducted at the headquarters in Pune, focusing on the rising threats in internal areas. This meeting was chaired by Lieutenant General Dheeraj Seth and included senior officials from the Maharashtra government, railways, and other agencies.

Special programs were held in various cities as part of the initiative. In Pune’s Aundh, the army, police, and administration collaborated on exercises. Bhopal hosted a seminar on countering drone threats, while Babina saw joint patrols and monitoring by the army, police, and other departments. Chennai held a security conference, and numerous activities took place in Belagavi, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, and Jaisalmer.

A notable aspect of all these programs was the visible collaboration among agencies. This enhanced mutual trust, facilitated information sharing, and expedited decision-making.

The initiative clearly demonstrates that security-related issues cannot be addressed in isolation today. It is essential for the army and all governmental and non-governmental organizations to work together.

The Southern Command’s efforts are seen as a significant step towards creating a robust and better-prepared system for the future.
