New Delhi, July 20: A medical bulletin regarding climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s health was released on Sunday evening. According to information from VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, Wangchuk is receiving essential medical care, and his vital health parameters are currently stable.
The bulletin indicates a slight improvement in his blood parameters. However, doctors emphasize the need for continuous monitoring of his condition. Given the stress on his body from prolonged fasting and its potential effects, he is under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of specialist doctors.
Hospital administration reported that the medical team from VMMC, Safdarjung Hospital, and AIIMS, New Delhi, is consistently monitoring his situation. Doctors believe that around-the-clock clinical monitoring is crucial to identify and address any potential health complications following extended fasting.
The bulletin states that all necessary medical facilities are being provided to Sonam Wangchuk as needed. His clinical condition is regularly reviewed, with doctors keeping a close watch on any changes in his health.
Previously, Wangchuk’s wife, Geetanjali Angmo, approached the Delhi High Court to request his transfer to a private hospital. However, the court has not yet accepted the request to shift him from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital. The court noted that his admission to the hospital was a decision made under legal procedures due to health reasons.
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal argued in court on behalf of Wangchuk, stating that he should have access to his preferred hospital and doctors. Meanwhile, the government asserted that a team of specialist doctors is monitoring his condition with utmost care.
Currently, Sonam Wangchuk remains under the supervision of doctors at Safdarjung Hospital. According to hospital administration, his condition is stable, and he is receiving continuous necessary treatment.
