Software Engineer Murdered in Nihal Vihar: In-Laws Accused

New Delhi, August 22: A shocking incident has emerged from Nihal Vihar in outer Delhi, where 31-year-old software engineer Vinay Gupta was allegedly beaten to death. The victim’s family has accused his in-laws of murder.

According to family members, Vinay’s in-laws visited his home under the pretext of reconciliation. Upon arrival, they reportedly began to assault him brutally. Vinay’s mother stated that she attempted to save her son, but the attackers ignored her pleas.

The family also alleged that during the incident, Vinay’s wife turned off the home’s CCTV cameras.

In an interview with the media, Vinay’s mother claimed that her daughter-in-law had summoned her brothers to the house. The family believed they were relatives visiting, and preparations for refreshments were underway. However, once inside, the group allegedly began to attack Vinay.

The mother recounted, “They held Vinay’s hands, choked him, jumped on his chest, and killed him in front of my eyes within five minutes. When I rushed to save him, they beat me; when his father tried to intervene, they attacked him too. Everything went dark before my eyes. There was no one else in the house. She had turned off the CCTV cameras.”

Vinay’s sister added that she was at her in-laws’ home when the incident occurred. She mentioned that her parents and brother were alone at home. After a brief argument, Vinay’s wife left the house in anger but returned within ten minutes with six family members. They took Vinay upstairs, and while her mother prepared to serve them water, they refused and instead attacked her brother, leading to his death. She emphasized that the entire event seemed premeditated, noting that her in-laws arrived unusually quickly, despite living half an hour away.

Vinay Gupta had been married for approximately three and a half years and was the father of twins. He worked as a software engineer in a company in Noida. The police have completed the post-mortem and handed the body over to the family. Investigations and legal proceedings are ongoing.
