New Delhi, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : President Droupadi Murmu sent her warm wishes to citizens on the eve of Dussehra, calling for a united commitment to building an inclusive and developed India. In her message, she expressed heartfelt greetings to all Indians, both at home and abroad.
“On this auspicious occasion of Dussehra, I extend my best wishes to everyone,” she stated. Murmu emphasized the festival’s significance, noting that it symbolizes Lord Ram’s victory over Ravana. Lord Ram is revered as a symbol of righteousness and moral conduct. She highlighted that Dussehra celebrates the triumph of good over evil and justice over injustice.
Indian culture, she remarked, is rooted in ideals of morality and duty. “Let us pledge to uphold the great ideals of our cultural traditions and contribute to the creation of an inclusive society and a developed India,” Murmu urged.
On this sacred occasion, she wished all citizens happiness, good health, and prosperity.
In a related development, official sources indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi might attend the Dussehra celebrations in East Delhi’s IP Extension on Tuesday. Preparations are underway for his potential participation in the festivities.
Dussehra traditionally involves the burning of an effigy of Ravana, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The festival is celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm, reminding everyone of the triumph of righteousness.
Prime Minister Modi has frequently participated in major Dussehra celebrations in the national capital. However, last year, heavy rains led to the cancellation of his scheduled visit to the Patparganj Dussehra event on October 2.
In 2024, Modi attended the Ram Leela ceremony at the parade ground near Delhi’s Red Fort alongside President Murmu. This event was organized by the Shri Dharmik Leela Committee as part of annual festivities. In previous years, including 2023 and 2019, he participated in the Ravana Dahan ceremony organized by the Shri Ram Leela Society in Dwarka Sector 10, Delhi.
