Pune, June 29: New and shocking details have emerged in the investigation of the murder of 26-year-old real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal in Pune. According to police sources, Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, allegedly took around 1 crore rupees from him under the pretext of wedding shopping and expenses. It is claimed that she transferred the entire amount to her lover, Chetan Chaudhary.
Investigators believe that 20-year-old Siya and 22-year-old Chetan had plotted the murder well in advance. They devised a long-term plan to avoid suspicion after the crime. Both were arrested on June 18 for allegedly pushing Ketan off a cliff at Lohagad Fort.
As reported by NDTV, police sources assert that Siya cited wedding shopping and other preparations to justify taking nearly 1 crore rupees from Ketan. However, instead of using the money for the wedding, she gave it all to Chetan to help him establish his career and gain financial stability.
Authorities suspect that this financial transaction was a crucial part of the alleged conspiracy. Police noted that Chetan came from a financially weak background and had told Siya it would take him about three years to become financially stable.
The pair allegedly planned that after Ketan’s death, Siya would wait three years before marrying anyone to avoid raising suspicion. Once Chetan was financially secure and public attention had diminished, they intended to marry.
Police believe the delay in marriage was meant to make their relationship appear unrelated to the murder and to eventually gain approval from Siya’s family.
The investigation has also revealed the method used to carry out the murder. Officials stated that Siya and Chetan had predetermined signals for their plan. According to police, Siya was instructed to pretend to drink water or tie her shoelaces, which would signal Chetan that it was the right time to push Ketan off the cliff.
Investigators noted that this signal also ensured that Siya remained at a safe distance from Ketan, preventing him from grabbing her during the fall.
Call Detail Records (CDR) further support the police’s claims. Sources indicate that Siya spoke with Chetan approximately 34 minutes before the incident, raising suspicions that this conversation was a final confirmation before the murder.
The investigation has revealed that the murder plot was fully developed by the end of May, with the first attempt on Ketan’s life occurring on June 14. Reports suggest that Ketan was pushed that day but managed to save himself by grabbing onto nearby bushes. Later, Siya described the incident as an accident, claiming she pushed Ketan out of fear after seeing a snake.
