Shocking Incident at Mumbais Ghatkopar Station: Father Throws 9-Month-Old Son from Skywalk, Arrested
A father has been arrested for allegedly throwing his 9-month-old son from a skywalk at Ghatkopar railway station, leaving the child critically injured.

Ghatkopar, Mumbai, October 26 (Daily Kiran) : A deeply disturbing incident unfolded at Ghatkopar railway station in Mumbai on the night of October 25, when a 23-year-old father, Zafar Jahangir Sheikh, allegedly threw his 9-month-old son from a skywalk. The child sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment in the ICU at Sion Hospital.
The incident was reported following a complaint from the child’s mother, 22-year-old Aarti Sheikh. The couple, who had a love marriage two years ago, have been living near the railway station. Tensions have reportedly escalated between them over the past year, particularly during Aarti’s pregnancy.
Aarti’s complaint indicates that Zafar has developed a habit of abusing substances, specifically inhaling whitener. He works as a cloth vendor. On the evening of October 25, around 8 PM, Aarti was standing on the skywalk with her son when Zafar arrived and insisted on taking the child.
According to allegations, Zafar forcibly took the child from Aarti’s arms, verbally abused her, and threatened to throw both her and the baby off the skywalk. When Aarti pleaded for her child back, Zafar, in a fit of rage, threw the infant over the edge. Chaos erupted in the railway station as Aarti rushed down to find her son lying in a pool of blood. She quickly picked him up and called for help.
Upon receiving the distress call, Ghatkopar police arrived at the scene and transported the injured child to Rajawadi Hospital. After initial treatment, doctors referred him to Sion Hospital for advanced care. The child’s condition remains critical as he fights for his life in the ICU.
The police have recorded Aarti’s statement at Sion Hospital and have initiated legal action against Zafar Jahangir Sheikh. He has been arrested, and investigations into the case are ongoing.
