Shocking Arrest in Chennai: TVK Official Accused of Sexual Assault on 10-Year-Old Girl

Chennai, May 6: A shocking incident has emerged in Chennai, where a Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) official has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl. This case has sent ripples through political and social circles.

According to police reports, the incident took place in the Singaravelan Nagar area of Kasimedu, which falls under the RK Nagar assembly constituency. A 10-year-old girl from Mylapore had come to visit a relative a few days ago. During her visit, a local resident named Dinesh, also known as “Pambu Dinesh,” allegedly lured the girl into his home while she was playing outside.

It is alleged that once inside, he sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident. Terrified, the girl returned to her home in Mylapore and confided in her aunt about the ordeal. Following this, her family filed a complaint at the Kasimedu police station.

Given the seriousness of the allegations, the case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and was handed over to the Royapuram Women’s Police Station for investigation. The police attempted to apprehend the accused, but he was present at a counting center supporting TVK candidate Marion Wilson, making immediate arrest impossible.

Subsequently, police intensified their efforts and arrested Dinesh on Tuesday night. Following his arrest, he was presented in court and remanded to judicial custody. Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing, with a thorough examination of all aspects of the case.

Reports indicate that Dinesh served as the circle secretary for Ward 43 in TVK and was actively involved in electoral activities. The serious nature of the allegations against a political party official has heightened tensions in the political atmosphere.
