Shivraj Singh Chauhan Announces Annual MP Sports Festival to Boost Local Talent

Raisen: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan engaged directly with players from various assembly constituencies of the Vidisha-Raisen parliamentary area at Bhagwati Garden on the Sagar route on Sunday.

During the interaction, Chauhan listened to the suggestions of young athletes and discussed the expansion of sports facilities in the region. The Union Minister announced that the event, aimed at nurturing local talent and promoting sports activities, will be organised annually in the coming years.

He emphasised that providing a platform for talented players from both rural and urban areas is a priority. A large number of young athletes and public representatives were present on the occasion.

Welcoming the Union Budget 2026-27

Senior BJP leader and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan also welcomed the Union Budget 2026-27 presented on Sunday. He described it as a commitment towards building a developed India.

Chauhan stated that the budget will transform the conditions and future of villages and farmers. He highlighted that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has allocated ₹1,62,671 crore for agriculture and allied sectors to strengthen Indian agriculture and empower farmers.

He further mentioned that ₹2,73,108 crore has been reserved for rural development to make villages engines of growth.

The former four-time Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh noted that the country has achieved a strong growth rate of around seven percent, along with significant progress in poverty reduction.

The Union Minister added that the total budget for MNREGA was earlier ₹86,000 crore, but now the central government’s share for the “Viksit Bharat – Rozgar aur Aajeevika Mission (Rural)” alone exceeds ₹95,600 crore. Including state contributions, this amount will surpass ₹1,51,000 crore.
