Shenzhou-21 Astronauts Celebrate Spring Festival from Space

Beijing, February 16: On the occasion of the traditional Chinese Spring Festival, the Shenzhou-21 astronaut team decorated their space station with festive colors, wishing for the nation’s prosperity and the well-being of its people. This marks the fourth Spring Festival celebration since the full operation of the Chinese space station.

Mission Commander Chang Lu is celebrating his second Spring Festival in space. He expressed a deep connection to his family and country while gazing at Earth from the window.

Astronaut Wu Fei is celebrating the Spring Festival in space for the first time. He emphasized the importance of pursuing our dreams with the energy of the Year of the Horse.

Astronaut Chang Hongchang described this experience as the most valuable of his life. He stated that they will continue to add new chapters to the universe and wish for the country’s scientific progress.

On the night before the Spring Festival, the Shenzhou-21 astronauts, approximately 400 kilometers above Earth, will enjoy a special festive meal. They will taste traditional dishes along with a cake that has been prepared for the first time in a space oven.

It is noteworthy that the Shenzhou-21 mission was launched on October 31, 2025, and the astronauts have been engaged in scientific experiments, equipment maintenance, and health management for over 100 days in space.
