Islamabad, July 2: In the past 24 hours, severe rain and storms in Pakistan’s Punjab province have resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left nine others injured. According to a report by ‘Dawn’, Farooq Ahmed, a spokesperson for Punjab Rescue 1122, stated that a wall collapsed in Attock, causing two fatalities and injuring three others. Additionally, in the Para Shaheen Bagh area, the roof of a house collapsed, injuring three people.

In the Kaidabad area of Khushab, a person was injured due to lightning. Meanwhile, in Sargodha, strong winds caused a signboard to fall, injuring another individual. A wooden roof collapse in Sheikhupura also resulted in injuries to one person. Rescue 1122 reported that their teams promptly arrived at the scene and transported all the injured to hospitals for treatment.

On Monday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced that a new phase of the monsoon would begin in the country during the first week of July. Prior to this, on June 14, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that various incidents related to strong winds, lightning, and rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province had resulted in at least seven deaths and 33 injuries.

According to the PDMA’s damage assessment report, the fatalities included four men, one woman, and two children from incidents in Bannu, Shangla, and Mansehra. The strong winds and heavy rains caused walls and roofs to collapse in several areas, leading to these tragedies, as reported by Geo News.

These incidents occurred just days after two people lost their lives and 31 others were injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to rain and high winds.
