Pulwama, August 2: Security forces have arrested a suspect during a blockade operation near the Fruit Market in Rajpora, Pulwama. The individual has been identified as Tousif Ahmed Dar, a resident of Pulwama.

During the search, security personnel recovered a grenade, a mobile phone, and three anti-national posters from his possession. An FIR has been registered under number 107/2026 at the Rajpora police station. Further investigations are ongoing.

Earlier, on Saturday, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level security meeting. This was in response to the recent Kulgam attack, where two non-local laborers lost their lives. Sinha directed officials to launch a comprehensive and effective anti-terrorism campaign to neutralize threats.

He also instructed all district commissioners and SSPs to thoroughly review the standard operating procedures (SOPs) established for the safety of laborers coming from outside Jammu and Kashmir. Employers were urged to ensure that workers from other states are provided with insurance and that their details are registered with local police and district authorities.

Sinha emphasized the need for dignified funerals for the victims of the Kulgam attack and directed that grieving families receive full support. The meeting also reviewed security arrangements and measures to strengthen safety corridors for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra.

This security meeting was convened in light of the Kulgam attack, which resulted in the death toll rising to two on Saturday. Officials reported that a second injured laborer from Chhattisgarh succumbed to severe injuries in a hospital in Srinagar.
