SBI Customers Alert: New IMPS Transaction Charges to Apply from August 15

New Delhi, August 14 (Kiran News) – The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced a revision in its Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) transaction charges, effective from August 15, 2025. The changes will apply differently to online and branch channels, with some slabs seeing new charges while others remain unchanged.

For online transactions, IMPS transfers of up to ₹25,000 will continue to be free of cost. However, from August 15, a nominal fee will be charged for online transactions above ₹25,000. There will be no change in IMPS charges for transactions conducted through SBI branches. Salary account holders will continue to enjoy full exemption on online IMPS transfers.

Revised Online IMPS Charges for SBI Customers

  • Above ₹25,000 and up to ₹1,00,000 – ₹2 + GST

  • Above ₹1,00,000 and up to ₹2,00,000 – ₹6 + GST

  • Above ₹2,00,000 and up to ₹5,00,000 – ₹10 + GST

Earlier, these transactions were free of cost. The maximum per-transaction limit for IMPS is ₹5 lakh (excluding SMS and IVR channels). IMPS is a real-time payment service available 24×7 and operated by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Branch IMPS Charges Remain Unchanged
For branch-based IMPS transactions, SBI has retained its existing fee structure. The lowest branch fee is ₹2 + GST, and the highest is ₹20 + GST.
