Sanjay Nirupam Says Hijab-Wearing Woman Cannot Be India’s PM

Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has responded sharply to AIMIM chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s remark about a hijab-wearing woman becoming India’s Prime Minister. Nirupam stated that while a woman wearing a hijab can become a Prime Minister, it will not be of India but of countries like Pakistan or Bangladesh.

Asaduddin Owaisi had expressed in an event that his dream is to see a hijab-wearing daughter become the Prime Minister of India in the future. In reply, Nirupam said that if Owaisi truly aspires for that, he and his supporters should move to Pakistan where such a dream can be realised, rather than trying to impose it in India.

Somanath Festival and National Pride

Speaking about the ongoing Somanath Swabhiman Festival, Nirupam highlighted the event as a symbol of India’s cultural pride and traditions. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the grand celebration, which honours the historic Somnath Temple – a site attacked repeatedly by Mahmud Ghaznavi nearly a thousand years ago. Nirupam emphasised the temple’s significance as a representation of India’s self-respect and heritage.

Comments on West Bengal and Mamata Banerjee

Referring to recent developments in West Bengal, Nirupam criticised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for interfering when the Enforcement Directorate raided the IT department’s offices. He described her actions as a violation of India’s constitutional framework and an obstruction to the investigation. According to him, such interference by the CM is a serious matter, and the public is watching closely, awaiting the right time for justice.

Remarks on Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar’s Political Dynamics

Discussing Maharashtra politics, Nirupam mentioned that Ajit Pawar has indicated that family disputes within their political circle have ended. He pointed out that Sharad Pawar’s party and Ajit Pawar’s faction are contesting elections together in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporations, signalling a possible reconciliation. However, Nirupam said that the future political implications of this alliance remain uncertain and will be decided by the Pawars themselves.
