Mumbai, August 1: During the Kanwar Yatra, questions have arisen regarding the arrangements made for devotees, including the distribution of fruits, cool drinks, and other essentials. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam defended the police, stating that they are also Hindus. He questioned why there is any objection to serving the Kanwar pilgrims.
In an interview, Nirupam emphasized that the month of Sawan sees devotees from all corners of the country embarking on the pilgrimage to worship Lord Shiva. These pilgrims undertake a rigorous journey, often walking hundreds of kilometers, which can lead to blisters on their feet. He remarked that when the police assist these devotees, they embody the spirit of Shiva, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Nirupam asserted that police officers are Hindus too and have their own dharma. If Hindu police personnel are serving the Kanwar pilgrims out of devotion, it is indeed a service to Shiva. Everyone has the right to serve Shiva.
Regarding the recent incident at Jantar Mantar, where students made derogatory remarks, Nirupam commented on Prime Minister Modi’s decision to forgive them. He noted that the offensive language used by misguided youth towards PM Modi and his late mother was shocking and hurtful to many across the nation. While the law was taking its course, PM Modi displayed magnanimity by acknowledging that these young individuals were lost and made mistakes in their youth. He chose to forgive them and offered a chance for redemption.
Nirupam stated that questioning PM Modi’s actions by the opposition is not inherently wrong. He highlighted Modi’s adept use of social media since 2014, effectively reaching out to the youth. Platforms like Instagram are now popular among young people, and Modi’s engagement with them through this medium is a wise decision.
On the topic of the Ram Mandir issue, Nirupam criticized Rahul Gandhi and Pappu Yadav, labeling them as opponents of Sanatan Dharma. He accused them of seeking opportunities to oppose Hinduism.
He expressed that the recent theft incident at the Ram Mandir has distressed many, but the opposition’s theatrics in Parliament were inappropriate and unbecoming. He pointed out that Pappu Yadav was seen in saffron attire, allegedly involved in fundraising, with Rahul Gandhi among the first to donate. He questioned whether any saints were implicated in the theft case, emphasizing that the ongoing SIT investigation has not identified any saints among the suspects.
Nirupam concluded by stating that Pappu Yadav is merely looking for opportunities to insult saints.
