Chennai, August 1: Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, visited Mahabalipuram on Saturday to meet the families of students who tragically took their own lives following the NEET paper leak.
Gandhi shared photos of his meeting with the bereaved families on the social media platform X, expressing that there is no greater sorrow than the tears and wails of parents who have lost their children. He emphasized that this grief will forever remain with them, alongside numerous questions about the broken and corrupt education system.
He stated, “The paper leak, canceled exams, and years of preparation destroyed in an instant. Our students are urged to work honestly in a system that is itself dishonest. And yet, the Prime Minister has the audacity to talk about ‘forgiving’ students. Has he met even one grieving family who lost a child or those whose savings, lives, time, and dreams were taken away by the paper leak? The answer is no!”
Gandhi asserted that Indian students do not need forgiveness from the Prime Minister; rather, Prime Minister Modi should apologize to them.
In addition, he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of failing to address the concerns of students. He reiterated that students deserve an apology from the Prime Minister, not the other way around.
Responding to Modi’s alleged comments about forgiving students for their remarks against him, Gandhi stated that Indian students do not require his forgiveness; they are entitled to an apology from him.
