Patna, March 19: An iftar party was held at the residence of Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi on Thursday. The event saw participation from several NDA leaders, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his son Nishant Kumar, and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.
Following the gathering, Manjhi made a significant political remark, suggesting that Samrat Chaudhary could be a potential candidate for the Chief Minister position.
The Union Minister stated, “I believe Samrat Chaudhary is the person Nitish Kumar wants for the Chief Minister role. He may be entrusted with this responsibility.”
Commenting on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership style, Manjhi noted that while Kumar’s approach is clear, he often does not openly express his intentions.
He added, “If he (Nitish Kumar) is signaling something, it should be understood that he remains steadfast in his decisions.”
Regarding the increasing public presence of Nishant Kumar, the Chief Minister’s son and JD(U) leader, Manjhi remarked that although he has recently entered politics, he possesses all the qualities necessary for leadership.
“He is a patient person who respects others. Today, I observed him warmly interacting with everyone, which is a positive sign for anyone stepping into public life,” he said.
Emphasizing the tradition of hosting iftar gatherings, Manjhi mentioned that such events have been organized at his residence for nearly a decade.
He stated, “People from all political backgrounds come together to pray for peace, prosperity, and brotherhood in the state and the country.”
This year’s iftar event was organized to continue this tradition, especially as the holy month of Ramadan approaches its conclusion.
When questioned about the absence of an iftar gathering at the residence of former Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, Manjhi responded that it is a personal matter.
He said, “I cannot comment on why others have not organized such events. This is a religious ritual, and everyone has their own way of observing it.”
The event took place amid heightened political activity in Bihar, with recent iftar gatherings also held at the Haj Bhawan and the Chief Minister’s residence, often serving as platforms for social interaction and political messaging.
