Sam Pitroda Discusses George Soros Investment Proposals and Their Implications

Sam Pitroda emphasizes evaluating George Soros investment proposals on a case-by-case basis in a recent interview.

New Delhi, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : Sam Pitroda, the president of the Indian Overseas Congress, stated that investment proposals from Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros should be assessed based on their specific policies and objectives. He emphasized that each proposal must be considered individually.

In an exclusive interview, Pitroda remarked, “It depends on those in power. If George Soros wants to bring in $10 billion for a good cause, it can be considered. This entirely depends on the case and policy at hand. The authority to make such decisions lies with those in power.”

He clarified that he does not know Soros personally and has never met him. Despite spending several years in the United States, he has not had any direct interactions with the billionaire. “I don’t know him. I’ve seen him speak at public events in New York, but I’ve never spoken to him or approached him. I have no information about him,” Pitroda said.

When asked about the influence of powerful entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and George Soros on political and policy decisions, Pitroda acknowledged that they do have some impact. However, he noted that these figures play their roles while politicians and other stakeholders manage theirs. “They have some influence. But they do their work, politicians do theirs, and people have their roles. Everyone contributes in their own way.”

The Congress leader pointed out that influential individuals might attempt to change policies in their favor, but this does not mean they run a country. “They try to modify policies for their own benefit, but they do not govern any country. Unless a nation has a population of around two hundred thousand, the dynamics might be different,” he added.

Pitroda also commented on the recent interaction between Rahul Gandhi and Elon Musk on the social media platform X, which was related to the launch of Musk’s Starlink satellite internet services in India. He dismissed interpretations suggesting that Gandhi’s engagement with Musk implied support for granting him spectrum.

“I don’t think Rahul Gandhi has expressed support for this. He is not saying that Musk should be given the spectrum. This should not be misunderstood. Gandhi was simply responding to a small message from Musk, which is perfectly fine. It doesn’t carry any significant meaning,” he explained.

He advised against drawing political conclusions from this interaction, stating that Gandhi’s response should not be interpreted as a promise to grant Musk a license if Congress comes to power. “This does not mean that if Rahul Gandhi comes to power, he will grant a license to Elon Musk. That’s not the case. But people tend to read different meanings into it,” Pitroda concluded.
