Sai Sudharsan Sidelined on Day 3 After Injury During India vs West Indies Test

New Delhi, October 12 (DailyKiran) — India’s left-handed batter Sai Sudharsan did not take the field on the third day of the ongoing second Test against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, after suffering a minor injury while fielding on Saturday.

In an official update, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said,

“Sai Sudharsan sustained an injury while attempting a catch on Day 2. As a precautionary measure, he did not take the field on Day 3. The injury is not serious. He is doing fine and is under the supervision of the BCCI medical team.”

Injury Incident on Day 2

Sudharsan got injured during the eighth over of West Indies’ first innings when he attempted a sharp catch off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling to dismiss opener John Campbell. The ball struck his helmet as he completed the catch, following which he immediately left the field for medical attention.

Devdutt Padikkal replaced him as the forward short-leg fielder for the remainder of the day.

Sudharsan’s Contribution in the First Innings

Earlier, Sai Sudharsan played a crucial knock, scoring 87 runs off 165 balls, including 12 boundaries, helping India post a strong first-innings total of 518/5 declared.

Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) and captain Shubman Gill (129 not out) also starred with brilliant innings, while West Indies’ Jomel Warrican claimed three wickets.

India Tightens Grip on Match

By the end of the first session on Day 3, West Indies were struggling at 217/8, trailing India by 301 runs.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav has taken four wickets, Ravindra Jadeja has picked up three, and Mohammed Siraj claimed one.
