Russia Questions Ukrainian Embassys Role in Detained Nationals in India

New Delhi, March 22: The National Investigation Agency of India detained six Ukrainian and one American citizen at international airports in New Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata on March 13. Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has responded to the arrests of the six Ukrainian nationals.

Zakharova stated, “These individuals entered Mizoram by crossing the Myanmar border and established contact with local armed ethnic groups to supply drones manufactured in the EU. They were also involved in training for drone assembly, repair, and electronic warfare. Indian media, citing the NIA, reported that these armed groups maintain ties with insurgents in Northeast India.”

Criticizing the Ukrainian embassy in India, she remarked, “The response from the Ukrainian embassy was quite surprising, as it attempted to conceal this incident and the suspicious activities of its citizens, which were clearly aimed at destabilizing the region. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry chose to remain silent on its citizens’ violation of India’s counter-terrorism laws and hastily accused ‘some Indian and Russian news agencies’ of deliberately misrepresenting the facts.”

Targeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Zakharova asserted that this incident clearly indicates that his administration is a major exporter of instability worldwide. Russia has repeatedly warned about the threats associated with NATO and the EU’s large-scale militarization of Ukraine. There is no proper accounting for the weapons supplied, which could surface anywhere. Today, Kyiv is a significant supplier of weapons and military technology in the global black market, including supplying military products to Latin American drug cartels and training terrorists in Africa. The web created by Western countries in Ukraine is reaching regional conflicts in the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

Zakharova added, “Just a few days ago, Zelensky openly stated that several hundred Ukrainian fighters have been deployed as instructors and experts skilled in using unmanned aerial vehicles to participate in ongoing conflicts in the Persian Gulf region. Of course, there is no question of international monitoring on Ukraine’s military technology exports.”
