
New Delhi, June 30: The Developed India – Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Rural) Act, 2025 will be implemented across rural India starting July 1, 2026. Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, stated on Tuesday that no eligible rural worker should be deprived of work for even a single day.
According to an official statement, the central government has completed all administrative, financial, and technical preparations in collaboration with states and union territories to ensure the smooth implementation of this new system.
Under this act, the statutory wage employment guarantee for each eligible rural family has been increased from 100 days to 125 days. The initiative aims to create sustainable assets in rural areas and advance the goal of Developed India by 2047.
To implement this scheme nationwide, the central government has allocated ₹95,692.31 crores to states and union territories. This funding will ensure timely wage payments and a seamless transition to the new system.
Chouhan emphasized, “Sufficient financial resources have been provided, and the entire implementation framework is ready. Ongoing work will continue without any interruptions. The increased employment guarantee of 125 days will strengthen rural livelihoods, create sustainable community assets, and accelerate the goals of a Developed India.”
He also noted that all current projects will proceed without disruption. Job cards that have undergone e-KYC verification will remain valid until new rural employment guarantee cards are issued, ensuring that workers receive employment and timely wages without obstacles.
The act places gram panchayats at the center of rural development. It emphasizes the construction of sustainable assets, natural resource management, water conservation, agricultural activities, rural infrastructure development, women’s empowerment through self-help groups, coordination with major rural development schemes, and technology-based transparent administration.
The national launch of the Developed India – Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Rural) Act, 2025 will take place on July 2, 2026, in Mukkuvaripalli village, Obulavaripalle mandal, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh.
During the event, rural employment guarantee cards will be distributed to beneficiary families. Additionally, the mission will be formally inaugurated, an awareness film based on the mission will be screened, and a compilation of articles written about the mission will be released.
