Ahmedabad, April 5: In a thrilling match at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured a narrow victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) by just 6 runs in IPL 2026. Following the match, RR captain Ryan Parag lauded wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel for his outstanding performance.
Parag expressed his admiration for Jurel’s batting, stating, “I believe we have not done justice to his talent until now. He has tackled tough situations. He has batted at the six and seven positions. Now that we have the opportunity, I was the first to say he should bat at number three, and he has shown us what he can do. This is just the beginning for him. I hope he scores 700 or 800 runs in the future and helps us win the championship.”
Previously batting lower in the order, Dhruv Jurel has been promoted to bat at number three in IPL 2026. In the season opener against CSK, he scored 18 runs off 9 balls. However, he truly shined against GT, scoring a career-best 75 runs off 42 balls, including 5 fours and 5 sixes.
Thanks to Jurel’s innings, RR posted a total of 210 runs for the loss of 6 wickets after winning the toss. In response, GT managed to score 204 runs, losing 8 wickets, falling short by 6 runs. RR’s bowlers excelled in the final two overs, restricting GT to just 15 runs needed for victory. Jofra Archer, who bowled the 19th over, and Tushar Deshpande, who bowled the final over, both conceded only 4 runs each, sealing the match for RR. Ravi Bishnoi was named Player of the Match for his impressive figures of 4 wickets for 41 runs in 4 overs.
