Mumbai, March 1: NCP (SP) legislator Rohit Pawar raised concerns on Saturday regarding the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIIB) report about the plane crash in Baramati. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others.
Rohit Pawar, who asserts that this was not merely an accident, took to the social media platform ‘X’ to express his doubts. He questioned, “What were the initial findings in the AAIIB’s primary report? Based on this CID report, how will the investigation proceed? The line on page 4, point 5.1, stating that Baramati Airfield is located in Baramati district of Maharashtra, raises serious concerns about the thoroughness of the AAIIB’s report. I will discuss this in detail on Monday in Mumbai.”
Home State Minister Yogesh Kadam commented that since this is an initial report, it is premature to draw any conclusions until the full investigation is completed.
He stated, “I have not officially seen the initial report from air intelligence that has surfaced in the media. However, based on available information, it is understood that the initial report indicates an attempt to land despite low visibility, which led to a loss of control.”
Kadam further emphasized, “Nonetheless, this is just an initial report. It is not appropriate to reach any conclusions until a comprehensive and detailed investigation is completed. Aviation safety is a serious matter, and I trust that the relevant agencies will conduct the investigation impartially. The facts will only be clear once the investigation is concluded.”
Earlier, Rohit Pawar intensified his demand for a high-level criminal investigation into the plane crash that claimed the life of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
He met with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray, alleging a ‘conspiracy’ involving the aviation company and called for an FIR. The incident occurred on January 28, 2026, when the Learjet 45 carrying Ajit Pawar crashed during its second landing attempt in Baramati.
