Mumbai, August 26: BJP leader Rohan Gupta has launched a verbal attack on the opposition regarding comments made by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on women’s reservation, the upcoming municipal elections in Rajasthan, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statements on illegal immigration. Defending the BJP government’s policies, he accused the Congress and SP of engaging in appeasement and political self-interest.
In response to Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks on women’s reservation and related issues, Gupta stated that the people of Uttar Pradesh have not forgotten the alleged mafia rule during the Samajwadi Party’s tenure. Names associated with crime and mafia, such as Atiq Ahmed, still linger in the public’s memory.
Gupta emphasized that the BJP does not merely chant slogans for women but actively works to protect their rights. He questioned why the Samajwadi Party opposed the NDA government’s law against triple talaq, which aimed to safeguard the rights of Muslim women.
He accused the opposition of viewing women’s empowerment through a political lens. The public will not trust the opposition’s statements, considering their past governance and policies.
Gupta countered Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra’s claims of being fully prepared for the municipal elections. He asserted that Congress’s preparations are for defeat, not victory. The atmosphere in Rajasthan favors the BJP, and the public is satisfied with the performance of the double-engine government. People now desire a BJP government at the local level to expedite development and administrative work.
Accusing Congress of internal factionalism, he noted the increasing number of chief ministerial aspirants within the party and the existence of different factions among leaders. When a party prioritizes power-sharing over public issues, the public loses trust. The people of Rajasthan seek development, good governance, and freedom from corruption, and the BJP is addressing these issues. Gupta believes the BJP will receive strong support in the upcoming municipal elections, leading the state towards a ‘Triple Engine’ government.
Supporting Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statements on illegal immigration, Gupta made serious allegations against Congress. He urged Congress to address the situation regarding illegal immigration at the border in West Bengal and the border fencing process. He claimed that the lax policies of Congress governments over the years have exacerbated the issue. The alleged appeasement politics of the Trinamool Congress and other opposition parties in West Bengal have also contributed to this problem.
Gupta stated that for the BJP, illegal immigration is not just an electoral issue but a matter of national security and public interest. He asserted that serious actions are being taken against illegal immigration in BJP-ruled states. The government is addressing the issue seriously in Assam, West Bengal, and other areas facing this challenge, working towards the goal of a ‘Illegal Immigrant-Free India’ soon.
