Roborock has introduced its latest innovation, the Saros Rover, at CES 2026, presenting what it calls the world’s first robot vacuum equipped with wheeled legs. This unique design enables the device to climb stairs and clean each step individually, a feature traditional robot vacuums have not been able to achieve.
The Saros Rover operates with a dual-leg system where each leg moves independently. It can lift and lower its body to navigate staircases, uneven surfaces, and multi-level thresholds. During the CES demonstration, the robot climbed five steps in less than 40 seconds while cleaning each one, maintaining balance by using one leg for support as it rolled across the steps.
At the heart of the Saros Rover is the AdaptiLift Chassis 3.0, allowing the robot to adjust its height dynamically and overcome obstacles up to 3.3 inches tall. It is designed to handle steep ramps, curved stairs, and thick carpets. The mechanical system works alongside AI-powered navigation, which employs 3D spatial sensors and real-time object recognition to avoid collisions and adapt to changing environments.
Roborock has confirmed that the Saros Rover is still under development with no official release date announced. The company is considering whether to add a mopping feature in future versions, as the current model focuses solely on vacuuming. Further updates are expected to expand its cleaning functions.
This new model follows Roborock’s earlier attempts, such as the Saros Z70, which included a robotic arm. After receiving mixed reviews on previous experimental designs, Roborock is taking a cautious approach with the Saros Rover, according to reports from The Verge.
The price of the Saros Rover has not been revealed, but it is expected to be higher than the Saros Z70, which was launched at $2,599. This robot vacuum marks a significant advancement in home cleaning technology, especially for users with multi-level homes who have long awaited a device capable of climbing stairs.
