New Delhi, March 22: RP Singh, the national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), addressed the escalating tensions in the Middle East on Saturday. He supported Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement, which indicated that food and energy crises are likely under such circumstances. Singh urged the opposition to collaborate with the government during these challenging times.
In an interview with a news agency, Singh emphasized that the ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States is expected to have global repercussions. He warned that attacks on energy sources could lead to rising prices for LPG and petrol. Instead of politicizing this serious global issue, he called for cooperation between the ruling and opposition parties, particularly urging the opposition to support the government.
When questioned about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Singh criticized her for discussing voting rights. He suggested that if she has concerns, she should approach the Supreme Court, as the process is under judicial oversight. Singh accused Banerjee of using infiltrators as a vote bank and claimed that her current troubles stem from their identification.
Responding to events in Punjab, Singh also targeted the government led by Bhagwant Mann. He referred to the controversy surrounding the suicide of a warehouse manager in Amritsar, which led to the resignation of the transport minister. Singh alleged that attempts were made to secure contracts through coercion, exacerbating the situation.
He further claimed that while Mann has labeled corruption as a ‘cancer,’ it has now fully engulfed his government. Singh demanded a CBI investigation into the matter and insisted that ministers and legislators should disclose their financial details to ensure transparency for the public.
Singh criticized Congress leader Udit Raj’s statement regarding the murder of cow protector Chandrashekhar in Mathura. Raj questioned the police’s role in the incident, to which Singh responded that both society and police have their responsibilities. He noted that societal awareness is crucial, and while it is natural to express concern over unpleasant events, Congress seems unable to comprehend this sentiment. Singh assured that the government is aware of the murder and that the perpetrators will face severe punishment.
