Rising Temperatures Prompt Heat Alert in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

Chennai, March 5: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a gradual increase in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu over the next two days. However, light rain is expected in some parts of the state by the weekend due to current atmospheric conditions.

According to the weather department, a pressure area has formed over the Gulf of Mannar and surrounding regions, increasing the likelihood of rainfall.

As a result of this pressure, light rain is anticipated in the Western Ghats districts and coastal areas of southern Tamil Nadu from March 9. Meteorologists indicate that while heavy rainfall is not expected, sporadic showers may occur in certain areas during this period.

Additionally, the weather department has indicated that moderate rainfall could occur in some locations of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on March 10. This rain may provide temporary relief in areas where temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the IMD has warned that maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to increase gradually. This rise in temperature aligns with seasonal changes leading into summer, when heat levels typically begin to rise in the region.

The weather department stated that several parts of the country, including Tamil Nadu, may experience extreme heat. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as temperatures are set to rise in the coming weeks.

The IMD has also encouraged the public to utilize the government’s weather mobile application, which provides real-time weather updates and early warnings about thunderstorms and other extreme weather events.

According to the department, this app can help people stay informed and take timely safety measures, especially during unstable weather conditions.

Officials have advised residents, particularly farmers and outdoor workers, to keep an eye on official weather updates and plan their activities accordingly, as rising temperatures and sporadic rainfall are expected in some parts of the state over the next few days.
