RCB Triumphs Over GT: Captain Rajat Patidar Praises Kohli and Padikkals Stellar Performance

Bengaluru, April 25: In a thrilling IPL 2026 match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) showcased an impressive performance, defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets. The match took place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where RCB successfully chased down a target of 206 runs in just 18.5 overs, losing five wickets in the process. After the victory, RCB’s captain Rajat Patidar praised the outstanding contributions of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal.

Following the match, Patidar remarked, “We learned many lessons from this game. Bhuvneshwar and Hazlewood made a strong start with their bowling. They maintained good length, and the other bowlers followed suit. We knew that any score around 200 would be a good total to chase. In the last three overs, our execution was spot on, especially with the yorkers. Kohli and Padikkal’s performance was exceptional. I enjoyed watching them bat. We lost a few wickets in the middle overs, which is something we will work on in upcoming matches.”

RCB’s chase did not start smoothly, as Jacob Bethel was dismissed for 14 runs off 10 balls. However, Kohli and Padikkal took charge, forming a formidable partnership for the second wicket, amassing 115 runs off 59 balls. Padikkal scored 55 runs from 27 balls, hitting two fours and six sixes, while Kohli played a powerful innings of 81 runs off 44 balls. Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten with 23 runs off 12 balls.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans set a challenging target, scoring 205 runs for the loss of three wickets in their 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan delivered an outstanding performance, marking his third century in the IPL with a brilliant 100 runs off 58 balls. Captain Shubman Gill contributed 32 runs off 24 balls, and Jos Buttler added 25 runs off 16 balls. With this victory, RCB climbed to second place in the points table, marking their fifth win of the season.
