Ayodhya, July 11: The political turmoil surrounding the Ram Temple donation issue shows no signs of abating. Deveshacharya, the priest of Hanumangarhi, stated that this incident has severely impacted Sanatan Dharma and called for the government to take strict action.
In an interview with a news agency, Deveshacharya remarked, “The theft of donations made in the name of Lord Ram at the Ram Janmabhoomi pilgrimage site has shamed the entire nation. The country hangs its head in shame, and followers of Sanatan Dharma are deeply saddened. As the treasurer, Govind Dev Giri had a moral obligation to accept responsibility, resign from his position, and cooperate with the investigation.”
Iqbal Ansari, a former litigant in the Babri Masjid case, also spoke to the news agency, saying, “Ayodhya has always been a religious city and a center of faith for all. The events that have transpired here are extremely unfortunate and have caused distress to everyone. We appreciate the government’s plans and the laws it has enacted to prevent such incidents in the future. We are satisfied with the government’s efforts.”
He added that if the government had enacted laws earlier, such incidents could have been avoided. While donation theft is wrong, he emphasized that the faith of the people remains intact, and special attention is needed to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Suresh Khanna criticized the opposition, stating, “There is no trust in the Samajwadi Party. The entire nation has witnessed their behavior when they ordered gunfire on kar sevaks. They left no stone unturned to suppress the movement. As for Ayodhya, it has always been part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s agenda. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath‘s government has implemented a zero-tolerance policy towards crime.”
