Bhopal, August 28: The festival of Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated in Madhya Pradesh. On this occasion, Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted the traditional message of love and trust between siblings. They also linked this festival to the values of family harmony, social unity, and women’s empowerment.
In his message, Governor Patel stated, “Raksha Bandhan celebrates the deep bond between brothers and sisters. It is a relationship built on love, affection, and trust, lasting from sweet childhood memories to every stage of life. I sincerely wish that this festival brings joy, prosperity, and happiness to all of you.”
The Governor described this festival as an expression of India’s rich cultural traditions and urged people to uphold its associated values. He also encouraged citizens to actively respect, support, and empower women.
Traditionally, this festival is celebrated by sisters tying a Rakhi on their brothers’ wrists, holding deep emotional and cultural significance in Indian society. Beyond the ritual, it symbolizes relationships based on care, protection, love, and responsibility.
Meanwhile, in his message for Raksha Bandhan, Chief Minister Yadav emphasized the dignity and self-reliance of women, highlighting the state’s ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’ as a crucial source of financial support.
The Chief Minister remarked, “Respecting sisters and maintaining their dignity and self-reliance is our top priority. We are steadfast in our commitment to bring joy and confidence into the lives of sisters through the ‘Ladli Behna Yojana.’”
He noted that over ₹65,000 crores have been transferred to the bank accounts of female beneficiaries under this scheme.
Yadav stated that this assistance should not only be viewed from an immediate economic perspective, as it also contributes to enhancing women’s confidence and financial independence.
The Chief Minister’s message attempts to connect the emotional significance of Raksha Bandhan with broader goals of creating more opportunities and dignity for women.
