Rajasthan Royals Opt for Bowling After Winning Toss Against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026

Jaipur, May 9: In the 52nd match of IPL 2026, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced off against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Saturday at the Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium. RR captain Yashasvi Jaiswal won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Regular captain Riyan Parag is sidelined due to injury, leading to Shimron Hetmyer’s inclusion in the playing XI. After winning the toss, Jaiswal stated, “We want to bowl first. I believe the wicket is quite good. Parag has a hamstring strain, but he will be back soon. Hetmyer has replaced him.”

The Gujarat Titans also made a change to their lineup, bringing back Prasidh Krishna in place of Manav Suthar. After losing the toss, captain Shubman Gill expressed, “We also prefer to bowl first. Prasidh is back in for Manav. It’s important to focus on our strengths. We have analyzed some areas. Most of our matches have been quite close. We will see how things unfold in the first few overs.”

So far this season, Rajasthan Royals have won 6 out of their 10 matches, while suffering 4 losses. The opening pair of Vaibhav Suryaanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal has performed well, with Dhruv Jurel proving his capabilities at number three. Captain Riyan Parag has returned to form, scoring a powerful 90 runs in the last match. The bowling duo of Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger has also excelled, although Ravi Bishnoi has struggled to contain runs.

On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans have seen impressive performances from Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill with the bat. Jos Buttler has also made significant contributions. However, the middle order has been a concern, with Rahul Tewatia and Washington Sundar failing to make a notable impact this season. Nonetheless, GT’s bowling attack is in good form, with Mohammad Siraj and Kagiso Rabada performing excellently in their last match against Punjab Kings. Jason Holder notably took 4 wickets alone.

Rajasthan Royals’ playing XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal (captain), Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Shimron Hetmyer, Donovan Ferreira, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubham Dubey, Dasun Shanaka, Jofra Archer, Tushar Deshpande, Brijesh Sharma, and Yashraj Poonja.

Gujarat Titans’ playing XI: Shubman Gill (captain), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (wicketkeeper), Nishant Sindhu, Washington Sundar, Jason Holder, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Arshad Khan, Kagiso Rabada, and Mohammad Siraj.
