Rajasthan Royals Halt Punjab Kings Winning Streak in IPL 2026

New Chandigarh, April 29: Rajasthan Royals (RR) put an end to Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) winning momentum in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. On Tuesday, RR secured a victory by 6 wickets in the season’s 40th match. Following the win, RR captain Riyan Parag stated that the team achieved what they had set out to do before the tournament began.

In this match held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Punjab Kings batted first, scoring 222 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten with 62 runs, while Prabhsimran Singh contributed 59 runs.

In response, Rajasthan Royals chased down the target in just 19.2 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal played a quick innings of 51 runs off 27 balls, while Vaibhav SuryaVanshi added 43 runs. Additionally, Donovan Ferreira scored an unbeaten 52 runs, sealing the victory for RR.

After the impressive win, Riyan Parag remarked, “As a team, we achieved what we had planned before the tournament started. We could have restricted them to a lower score, but our batsmen made up for it.”

He added, “We could have bowled better in some overs and improved our batting as well, but our goal was to perform well throughout the 40 overs. The concerns were only from outside; we trusted our players. All the worries came from outside, not from within us. Our plan was to keep wickets in hand while not falling too far behind the run rate. The challenging part was maintaining momentum. We lagged a bit but managed to bounce back.”

Punjab Kings had scored 151 runs for the loss of 4 wickets by the end of the 14th over. Following that, Donovan Ferreira, alongside Shubham Dubey, formed an unbeaten partnership of 77 runs off 32 balls, leading the team to a remarkable victory.

Dubey scored 31 runs off just 12 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 3 fours, while Ferreira’s innings included 3 sixes and 6 fours, totaling 52 runs off 26 balls. Praising his players, the captain said, “The way Shubham Dubey and Don (Donovan Ferreira) batted took the match away from Punjab Kings. Their style of play was commendable.”
