Jaipur, March 23: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma assured citizens on Monday that there is ample availability of petrol, diesel, LPG, and fertilizers across the state, urging them not to panic.
He instructed officials to take strict action against hoarding, black marketing, illegal storage, and unauthorized refilling.
While presiding over a high-level review meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, Sharma emphasized that the government is taking all necessary steps to prevent any artificial shortages.
Referencing assurances from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he reiterated that the public should not face any inconvenience.
To address LPG-related complaints, helpline numbers 181, 112, and 14435 are operational 24/7. The Chief Minister directed the Chief Secretary to ensure timely resolution of complaints and continuous monitoring.
District administration, police, and logistics departments have been put on alert to ensure smooth supply and distribution. Officials have been instructed to ensure timely refilling of LPG cylinders, especially after the designated waiting period. Adequate arrangements must also be made for large events such as weddings.
The Chief Minister stressed the need to expand the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network to reduce dependency on LPG. He directed companies to expedite the distribution of pipeline natural gas (PNG) connections for households and encourage commercial establishments like hospitals, hotels, and restaurants to switch to natural gas.
He also instructed that all pending approvals related to pipeline laying for infrastructure development should be issued within 24 hours.
Sharma noted that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has approved an additional 10% allocation for commercial LPG, directing officials to ensure its maximum utilization.
Furthermore, he announced an additional 20% LPG allocation in 5 kg cylinders for hotels, restaurants, dhabas, food processing units, industrial canteens, and workers. Officials are to ensure that this supply is not misused.
Both the central and state governments are coordinating to ensure the adequate availability of urea, DAP, and other fertilizers. Over the past decade, the center has commissioned six new urea plants, increasing annual production capacity by over 7.6 million metric tons.
Reiterating a tough stance, the Chief Minister directed officials to take stringent action against hoarders and rumor-mongers, while ensuring continuous monitoring to prevent misinformation.
The meeting was attended by Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Energy Minister (Independent Charge) Heeralal Nagar, Chief Secretary V. Srinivasan, senior officials from key departments, and representatives from petroleum companies.
