Rajasthan Chief Minister Inspects Under-Construction Chambal Aqueduct in Bundi

Jaipur, April 8: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma visited Guhta village in Bundi district’s Indergarh tehsil on Wednesday. During his visit, he inspected the construction of the aqueduct over the Chambal River, part of the ‘Ram Jal Setu Link Project.’

The Chief Minister described this project as one of the state’s most ambitious initiatives. He stated that it would provide sufficient drinking water and irrigation to 17 districts in eastern Rajasthan.

On his official X account, the Chief Minister shared that the pillars of the massive aqueduct being built over the Chambal River were ceremonially worshipped, and an exhibition showcasing the project’s progress was also viewed. To promote environmental conservation, tree planting was conducted at the site. He mentioned that the aqueduct will be 2,280 meters long and 36 meters high, improving irrigation facilities for farmers and ensuring drinking water availability for the public. A 7-meter-wide road is also being constructed on top, making travel between Kota and Delhi easier, faster, and safer.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this project is a significant step towards achieving the goal of a developed Rajasthan. By strengthening water management, it aims to enhance the quality of life for residents and accelerate regional development.

It is expected that nearly 40% of the state’s population will benefit from this project. The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure high-quality construction and complete all work within the stipulated time frame.

Highlighting the importance of the Chambal Aqueduct as a critical component of this project, he directed officials to conduct regular monitoring of the construction activities. He also reviewed the project’s progress and provided necessary directives.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the aqueduct is being constructed over the Chambal River, located between Pipalda Samel village in Kota district and Guhta village in Bundi district, with a total length of 2,280 meters.

They explained that the structure will be supported by 5,060 piles and 77 pile caps, with approximately 384 circular piers being constructed. This aqueduct will facilitate the smooth flow of water across the Chambal River, making it easier to transport water from one location to another. Additionally, the road being built on top will be useful for vehicle movement, providing convenience to the public.

During the visit, the Chief Minister also observed an exhibition showcasing various aspects of the ‘Ram Jal Setu Link Project.’ Earlier, he planted a sapling to promote environmental conservation. Accompanying him were Rajasthan’s Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat, Energy State Minister (Independent Charge) Heeralal Nagar, Additional Chief Secretary (Water Resources) Abhay Kumar, and other officials associated with the project.
