Raj Thackeray Pays Tribute to Balasaheb’s Enduring Legacy on 100th Birth Anniversary

Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray shared a heartfelt message commemorating the birth centenary of Shiv Sena founder late Balasaheb Thackeray. Reflecting on Balasaheb’s personality, political philosophy, and unwavering love for Marathi identity, Raj Thackeray also offered sharp insights into contemporary politics.

In a post on the social media platform X, Raj Thackeray wrote, “Today marks the 100th birth anniversary of late Balasaheb. Many have celebrated and will continue to celebrate this historic milestone, but it is rare for a person to remain alive in people’s memories and continue shaping politics and social issues of a region long after passing. This is true only for Balasaheb. I am confident that Balasaheb will be remembered not just after 100 years, but even on his 200th birth anniversary. The Marathi people who remember him will remain united and strong, silently enduring injustice without breaking or bowing down.”

The Enduring Power of Balasaheb’s Legacy

Raj Thackeray expressed concern over how loyalty is increasingly sold and principles discarded in today’s politics, which has become purely practical. Success is now measured by electoral wins and the tactics used, rather than the issues raised or the preservation of regional and linguistic identity. In Balasaheb’s time, such expectations did not exist, and even if they did, he would have discarded them. Although he was not fond of power, he gave satisfaction to grassroots workers by involving them in positions of authority. Power may come and go, but very few leaders create an impact that lasts generations. This was Balasaheb’s strength and his lasting legacy.”

Balasaheb’s Vision Remains Relevant

Describing Balasaheb as a visionary, Raj Thackeray stated that his vision remains relevant today and will continue to be so in the future, making him timeless. “While it is true that we may never see talent like Balasaheb again, it is equally true that politics like his cannot be replicated. The responsibility lies with future generations to protect his image and ensure that the fight he led for the Marathi language and people continues to burn strong. We pledge to Marathi people to uphold this legacy with determination.”

He also acknowledged that although Balasaheb sometimes had to adopt flexible political stances, his love for Marathi people never wavered but grew stronger. These values continue to guide them. Raj Thackeray reaffirmed that any flexibility in politics will never be for personal gain or benefit.

A Promise to Marathi People

Raj Thackeray said, “I am one among thousands who joined Balasaheb after witnessing his deep love for Marathi language, land, and people. Therefore, my trust and affection for both ‘Balasaheb’ and ‘Marathi’ remain unwavering. On behalf of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, I offer humble tributes to the memory of late Balasaheb.”
