Rain Washes Out Final T20 Match, Series Ends in Draw; Iyer Named Impact Player of the Series
The T20 series between India and West Indies concludes in Bengaluru with a draw, as Shreyas Iyer earns Impact Player of the Series honors.

Bengaluru, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : The T20 series between India and the West Indies concluded in Bengaluru on Saturday with the fifth match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium being abandoned due to rain. This left the series tied at 2-2. Indian captain Shreyas Iyer was awarded the ‘Impact Player of the Series’ medal for his outstanding performance.
On Sunday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video from the dressing room, where training assistant Nuwan Seneviratne presented the medal to Iyer. In the clip posted on ‘BCCI.TV’, Seneviratne remarked, “Today’s ‘Impact Medal’ goes to the player who scored his first T20 century. Very few Indian players have centuries in all three formats. He has led the team both on and off the field, which makes this award fitting for Shreyas Iyer.”
The BCCI also highlighted moments from the series finale, stating, “Rain, runs, and special moments from the dressing room. A glimpse of the decisive match, including the presentation of the ‘Impact Player of the Series’ medal.”
Throughout the five-match T20 series against the West Indies, Iyer scored 181 runs at an average of 45.25, making him the third-highest run-scorer of the series. He achieved his first T20 international century in the opening match in Lucknow, becoming the seventh Indian male cricketer to score centuries across all international formats.
Earlier, India had claimed a 2-1 victory in the ODI series against the West Indies, winning the first T20 match by eight wickets. However, the West Indies leveled the series with a six-wicket win in the second match. India regained the lead by winning the third match by 14 runs, but the West Indies bounced back with a 24-run victory in the fourth match, setting the stage for a decisive fifth game that ultimately was rained out.
Looking ahead, India is set to tour New Zealand for another five-match T20 series. The series will kick off with back-to-back matches at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on October 22 and 24, followed by the third T20 at Basin Reserve in Wellington on October 27. The tour will conclude with matches at Eden Park in Auckland on October 30 and Seddon Park in Hamilton on November 1.
