Rahul Gandhi to Launch Kerala Election Campaign with Rally in Kozhikode on March 25

Thiruvananthapuram, March 22: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, will kick off the Kerala Assembly election campaign with a major rally in Kozhikode on March 25. This rally marks the beginning of his extensive outreach program across the state.

Voting for 140 Assembly seats in Kerala is scheduled for April 9.

In the recent local body elections held in December, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) surprised many by performing exceptionally well against the left parties. However, the Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, is determined to secure power for the third consecutive time.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which currently has no representation in the Assembly, is hopeful for a better performance this time around.

Ramesh Chennithala, the chairperson of the election campaign committee, announced that the rally will take place on the evening of March 25 at Kozhikode Beach. During the event, Rahul Gandhi will address party workers and supporters, elaborating on the UDF’s key electoral promises, particularly the ‘Guarantee Card.’

As a prominent campaigner for the Congress, Rahul Gandhi is expected to conduct whirlwind tours across several Assembly constituencies in the state. The campaign will also see participation from various significant leaders at both national and state levels.

It remains uncertain whether Sonia Gandhi will participate in the election campaign this time. She made her first electoral rally appearance in nearly a decade during the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election in October 2024, when Priyanka Gandhi was contesting.

Priyanka Gandhi is likely to campaign throughout the state, which will further energize the Congress campaign.

Additionally, leaders such as Siddaramaiah, D.K. Shivakumar, and A. Revanth Reddy are also expected to campaign in Kerala.

Several other national leaders, including senior figure Sachin Pilot, will join the campaign, strengthening the Congress’s efforts ahead of the elections.
