Chennai, March 23: Union Minister and BJP’s Tamil Nadu election in-charge Piyush Goyal announced on Monday that all allies of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will convene to finalize the seat distribution for the upcoming elections.
Goyal arrived in Chennai to engage in crucial discussions aimed at solidifying the seat-sharing arrangement for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He stated, “We will all sit in one room to make decisions.”
As the election process approaches rapidly, there is increasing pressure on the AIADMK-led coalition to complete negotiations. Goyal’s visit is significant as it is expected to bring necessary clarity regarding the allocation of constituencies among the alliance partners.
During his visit, Goyal will meet with AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, AMMK leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran, BJP state president Nainar Nagendran, and Union Minister L. Murugan.
Expressing confidence before the meeting, Goyal emphasized that discussions will be guided by a collaborative “family spirit,” with all allies working towards consensus. He highlighted the importance of focusing on balanced and fair agreements rather than rushing decisions.
Goyal stated that they prioritize quality outcomes over timely decisions, indicating that a sustainable and mutually agreed compromise is more crucial than speed.
His remarks come at a pivotal moment as the nomination filing dates draw near, increasing pressure on coalition partners to identify constituencies and finalize candidates.
Adopting an optimistic stance regarding the coalition’s prospects, Goyal claimed that public discontent is rising against the ruling DMK-Congress alliance. He noted that the political atmosphere in the state is changing, positioning the NDA as a credible alternative.
Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Goyal asserted that the NDA will focus on the development of key sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, small and medium enterprises, and industry. Job creation, youth empowerment, and support for startups will be central to the coalition’s agenda.
The outcomes of the meeting are expected not only to finalize the seat-sharing agreement but also to lay the groundwork for a coordinated and aggressive election campaign for the NDA in Tamil Nadu.
