New Delhi, March 10: On the occasion of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Foundation Day, various events are being held across the country. In this context, Leader of the Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has extended his congratulations to the CISF.
Rahul Gandhi took to social media platform X to express, “Heartfelt wishes to our brave soldiers on CISF Foundation Day. Your dedication, sacrifice, and courage in defending India fill us with pride and inspiration.”
Meanwhile, the CISF shared on its official X account, “Celebrating 57 years of service to the nation. For the past 57 years, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been safeguarding India’s critical infrastructure. We have maintained the highest standards of vigilance, discipline, and professionalism in protecting the nation’s vital assets. On this Foundation Day, we reaffirm our commitment to uphold the highest standards of security and service, staying true to our motto ‘Protection and Security’.”
Notably, the CISF was established in 1968 under the 50th Act of Parliament. Starting with 3,129 personnel, it has grown into a formidable force of 220,000 members deployed across nearly all states in the country. Currently, the CISF provides security to 361 critical national installations, including 70 airports. Additionally, the force operates 12 reserve battalions to address any security emergencies and runs eight state-of-the-art training institutes nationwide.
The CISF’s protective coverage extends to the country’s most significant establishments, including nuclear power plants, space installations, airports, ports, power plants, and other strategic infrastructures. The CISF is also responsible for securing major government buildings, historical monuments, and rapid transport systems like the Delhi Metro. Furthermore, the force has been tasked with the security of central prisons in Jammu and Kashmir and provides protection to select categories of VIPs.
