Rahul Gandhi and Hemant Soren Lead 50 Legislators in Jharkhand: JMM Secretarys Statement

Ranchi, June 22: Supriyo Bhattacharya, the central secretary of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), made a significant statement regarding the recent Rajya Sabha election results in the state. During a press conference on Monday, he asserted that Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Hemant Soren are the leaders of the 50 legislators who voted in favor of the JMM and Congress candidates, rather than the 56 members of the grand alliance.

He further noted that the political leadership of the 28 legislators who supported the NDA-backed independent candidate, Parimal Nathwani, lies with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

It is important to mention that the India alliance holds 56 seats in the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly. Despite this, the combined votes for both grand alliance candidates totaled only 50. Congress candidate Pranav Jha received 20 votes, while JMM candidate Baijnath Ram secured 30 votes to be elected to the Rajya Sabha. Three votes were declared invalid.

Bhattacharya criticized the leaders of the legislators whose votes were invalidated, calling them thoughtless. He emphasized the need for serious reflection on the Rajya Sabha election results.

He stated that a review of the election outcomes is essential, and discussions on the entire episode are necessary. Following Pranav Jha’s defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections, a blame game has erupted among Congress, RJD, and CPI(ML).

Congress leaders have accused their allies of not providing the expected support. In response, RJD and CPI(ML) have denied these allegations, claiming that all their legislators voted in favor of the Congress candidate.
