
Chandigarh, March 12: In light of ongoing conflicts in the Gulf region and rumors of a potential shortage of LPG cylinders, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated on Thursday that the state government is fully alert and closely monitoring the situation to ensure that residents have access to essential goods.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government will not tolerate panic, hoarding, or exploitation of consumers under any circumstances.
Mann noted that rumors of a possible LPG shortage are spreading rapidly across India due to tensions in the Gulf countries, causing unnecessary anxiety among the public.
He reiterated that the Punjab government is vigilant and keeping a close watch on the situation. All Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to ensure there is no shortage of essential goods and that residents do not face any inconvenience.
Warning against attempts to exploit the situation, the Chief Minister stated that the state government will take strict action against anyone trying to create panic or manipulate the supply of essential goods.
Mann stressed that if anyone is found hoarding essential items or spreading rumors about shortages to mislead the public, stringent action will be taken against them.
He also made it clear that black marketing of LPG cylinders or charging excessive prices will not be tolerated, and officials have been directed to maintain strict oversight in the market.
Furthermore, he mentioned that he has raised the issue with the central government to ensure a sufficient supply of LPG cylinders, preventing any inconvenience to the public in the coming days.
He reiterated the commitment of the state government to protect the interests of citizens and ensure that essential items remain readily available to the public.
