
Chandigarh, June 14: The Punjab BJP President, Kewal Singh Dhillon, on Sunday, flagged off three buses carrying pilgrims for the ‘Panch Tirth Yatra’ associated with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
This pilgrimage, starting from Chandigarh, offers participants a chance to visit historical sites linked to Dr. Ambedkar’s life, which have been developed and revitalized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dhillon stated that the journey, running until June 21, will cover five significant pilgrimage sites related to the life and legacy of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
He emphasized that the central government has not only invested thousands of crores in developing these sites but has also made special efforts to raise awareness about their historical and social significance.
During the pilgrimage, devotees will visit Mahu (birthplace), Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur, Chaityabhumi in Mumbai, the Mahaparinirvan site in Delhi, and the virtual education site also in Delhi. All these locations are deeply connected to Dr. Ambedkar’s life, his struggles, and his significant contributions to social justice.
The BJP government has spent nearly 2,000 crores on the development and preservation of these monuments, ensuring that future generations remain inspired by Babasaheb’s thoughts, ideals, and contributions.
Approximately 150 devotees are participating in this unique pilgrimage.
The delegation will be led by S.R. Ladhar, the President of the Punjab BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha and a former IAS officer.
Ladhar mentioned that the primary aim of the ‘Panch Tirth Yatra’ is to convey Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar’s message to every section of society and express the nation’s gratitude towards him.
He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, these five pilgrimage sites have received a special national identity and recognition for the first time.
