Chandigarh, August 17: Punjab BJP President Kailash Singh Dhillon expressed concern over the alleged disrespect shown to the national song ‘Vande Mataram‘ during the Independence Day event at the Congress headquarters in Delhi.
On Monday, he stated that while the entire nation was immersed in patriotic fervor on this sacred occasion, the reported attempt by Congress leadership to interrupt ‘Vande Mataram’ was extremely shameful.
Dhillon accused Congress of repeatedly engaging in behavior that disrespects the nation’s pride and its symbols. He emphasized that ‘Vande Mataram’ has inspired countless freedom fighters during India’s struggle for independence, and the people of the country will never tolerate such disrespect towards a revered national song.
He demanded that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, along with the central leadership of Congress, issue an unconditional apology to the nation for this disgraceful act.
Dhillon further asserted that the BJP remains committed to upholding the respect for the country and its national symbols and will bring this issue to the attention of every segment of society.
Meanwhile, the BJP gained significant momentum as over 250 leaders and members from the Garhwal community decided to join the party, leaving various political factions. The new members included officials and members from the Garhwal assemblies associated with Kharar, Mohali, and Derabassi.
Welcoming them at the BJP office, Dhillon remarked that the BJP family is growing day by day across Punjab. He noted that the people of Punjab now see the BJP as their only hope, having experienced the governance of the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, and Shiromani Akali Dal, and are now determined to establish a BJP government in the state.
