Anurag Thakur Claims BJP Will Win Himachal Pradesh in 2027, Questions Congress Promises
Anurag Thakur asserts BJPs victory in Himachal Pradesh 2027 elections, criticizing Congress for unmet promises and financial mismanagement.

Shimla, October 22 (Daily Kiran) : BJP MP Anurag Thakur has confidently claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the government in Himachal Pradesh during the 2027 assembly elections. Speaking to the media in Shimla, he highlighted the party’s recent successes in local body and Panchayati Raj elections as evidence of public support. Thakur pointed out that the BJP won three out of four municipal corporations, 11 out of 12 district councils, and nearly 80 percent of Panchayati Raj elections, indicating a strong trend in favor of the party.
He specifically mentioned the Theog assembly constituency, where the BJP secured victories among numerous local representatives, including Block Development Council chairpersons and ward members. Thakur criticized the Congress party for failing to fulfill its electoral promises and questioned the financial management under the Congress government. He claimed that the state is grappling with a financial crisis, burdened by a debt of over ₹1.12 lakh crore, with the government resorting to further borrowing to cover existing debts.
Thakur also condemned the closure of educational institutions and the elimination of government positions, stating that thousands of schools have shut down and 150,000 jobs have been lost in the past four years. He raised concerns about pending dues owed to employees and pensioners, citing over 5,100 vacant positions in the education sector.
Responding to opposition criticisms regarding the Election Commission, Thakur remarked that when the Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav did not secure expected seats in previous elections, the opposition did not question the commission. He accused the opposition of trying to create a narrative blaming the Election Commission ahead of potential electoral losses, arguing that they conduct extensive campaigns before elections but shift responsibility for defeat afterward.
Thakur’s remarks reflect the BJP’s strategy as it gears up for the upcoming elections, emphasizing local successes while attacking the opposition’s track record.
