Pune Police Sets Benchmark with Swift Arrest in Child Sexual Abuse Case

Pune, May 8: The Pune police in Maharashtra have set a remarkable example of their commitment to women’s and children’s safety. Within just 24 hours, they arrested a man accused of sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl and filed a charge sheet against him in court.

The incident occurred in the Theur area of Pune’s Haveli taluka. According to police reports, the 46-year-old accused, Shridhar Limbaji Kamble, lured the young girl, who was playing outside, with food. Exploiting her innocence, he committed the act of sexual abuse. Upon discovering this heinous act, the girl’s mother promptly filed a complaint at the Lonikand Kalbhor police station.

Given the severity of the crime and the victim’s young age, the police took immediate action. Officers tracked Kamble to his hiding place and arrested him without delay.

The police have registered a case against the accused under Section 74 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 2023 and Sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act, 2012. Subsequently, the investigation team swiftly gathered evidence and filed a charge sheet in court within the same day to ensure the accused faces stringent punishment under the law.

However, this is not the first incident of sexual abuse against minors in Pune. On May 6, there was an attempted rape of a 9-year-old girl in the Parvati slum area, where the accused was a relative of the victim. The police later apprehended the suspect.

Additionally, on May 1, a 65-year-old man in the Nasrapur area of Bhor taluka lured a minor girl, raped her, and subsequently murdered her. He attempted to conceal the body under a pile of dung. The police arrested the accused and presented him in court, where he was remanded to police custody until May 7.
