Mumbai, February 5: In the world of Indian television and cinema, few artists achieve recognition, fame, and success in a single opportunity. Pulkit Samrat is one of those rare talents. Today, he stands as a successful actor, but not many know that his journey began with an audition he initially did not want to attend. However, as the saying goes, when destiny favors, hesitation can pave the way.
Pulkit shared, “From the start, I envisioned myself as a different kind of artist. My dream was to portray characters with depth, something unique that would set me apart from the crowd. This desire led me to distance myself from daily soap operas, as I felt most TV shows were limited to similar storylines. So, when I received an offer for a TV audition, I initially declined. But the casting team explained that this role was different and offered a unique opportunity.”
He continued, “The biggest draw for me was the chance to meet Ekta Kapoor through this project. That was the reason that made me reconsider. After some hesitation and many questions, I decided to give it a shot in Mumbai. Without much planning, I moved from Delhi to Mumbai overnight. At that time, I had no idea that this journey would become the biggest turning point of my life.”
Pulkit noted, “Interestingly, Ekta Kapoor had already seen my pictures. When we met, she immediately realized that my face was perfect for her famous serial ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.’ As soon as I arrived in Mumbai, my preparations began. My look was transformed, I got a new haircut, and a screen test was conducted. After watching the test recording, Ekta Kapoor made a swift decision. She simply stated that everything was fine and the role was finalized. That moment marked a new direction in my life.”
He added, “Amid this significant success, an emotional moment arose. I had moved to Mumbai without informing my family in Delhi. I missed my parents dearly. The joy of success and the pain of being away from family coexisted. I made an excuse about back pain to get permission for a night in Delhi and went to meet my parents. Upon seeing me at the airport, their eyes filled with tears. Without much saying, they embraced me. That meeting strengthened me from within.”
Notably, Pulkit’s entry into ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ was remarkable. He was launched with a generation leap and introduced to the audience through a special song. Few TV characters get such an opportunity. In no time, he became a household name. Pulkit reflects that that one opportunity brought him overnight recognition, and since then, he has never looked back.
