Protests Erupt in New Delhi Over Assault on Activists Father

New Delhi, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : Activists from the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) gathered outside the Parliament Street police station in New Delhi on September 4, demanding justice for Sanjay Kumar, the father of activist Nishoo Azad, who was assaulted during a recent protest at Jantar Mantar. The incident has reignited tensions, prompting further demonstrations in the capital.

CJP leaders Saurav Das and national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka joined Nishoo Azad at the police station, calling for accountability. They alleged that violence erupted during their peaceful protest and accused a criminal gang of operating freely in Delhi.

Saurav Das expressed frustration over the inaction of the Delhi police, stating, “These individuals have been roaming freely in Delhi for too long. The police have identified over 2,800 serious offenders at Jantar Mantar. Why are they being given a free pass? We demand that these criminals be identified and prosecuted.”

He emphasized that since the assault, there has been no response from the police, stating, “We stand with all the students and will continue to do so. Our demand is for the arrest of the 2,800 identified thugs.”

Ashutosh Ranka condemned the assault on Nishoo’s father, revealing that he sustained a head injury during the attack. He criticized the police for their lack of action, saying, “Our team has repeatedly urged the Delhi police to arrest these thugs and charge them with attempted murder, but they have remained inactive. It is disgraceful that in the capital, a thug openly admits to attempting to kill someone without facing any consequences.”

The CJP has called for the arrest of those who have publicly identified themselves as attackers and for serious charges, including attempted murder, to be filed against them. The controversy intensified after a podcast clip surfaced, in which an individual named Azaad Bharadwaj claimed responsibility for the assault and suggested that his political connections would shield him from serious legal repercussions.

Following the release of this video, CJP representatives, including Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, marched from Patel Chowk to the Parliament Street police station, demanding justice for Nishoo’s father.
